Grand Hostel Berlin Classic

It's very close to a metro station. The views are nice, there's a cute little bakery/cafe just across the street which is perfect for breakfasts. Loved the beds. Very comfy, and there's some extra space next to the mattress for little things you might wanna keep close. I liked that it felt quite safe inside (more so than other hostels I stayed in). You get a card that allows you to get in, and there's a few locked doors before you get to enter your room. Wifi is alright and working fine. There are two lockers (per person) inside the rooms (although I didn't use them; I assume you have to ask for the locks because they were not there by default, even though I saw some people did have them), and some extra lockers next to the reception desk. Those get locked with a code of your choosing, and cost €2,70 per day. Super close to Tempodrom if you're searching for a place to stay near that particular venue :-)

The 8-person room is very nice and spacious, with a private toilet. Each bed has a nightlight and power outlets. The living room, which is the only common area, is large and very comfortable. There’s a small bar where you can get draft beer or other drinks. The staff is extremely helpful and kind, especially Raquel. I appreciated that she speaks Spanish, as it made communication much easier for me. However, all the staff are very friendly. The coffee is affordable at just €2.50, though it’s not specialty coffee.

I have stayed in many hostels in Europe but this one was more like a 3 star hotel and on another level. The location was also in the middle of the city and easy to get to from Brandenburg airport. The metro line is U7 (Mockenbruken). The station is right next to the hostel. My room 310 was spacious and very comfortable with one bunk bed and two free standing ones. Mattress and bed linen were the same as you would get in most 4 and 5 star hotels. I use to work in this type of hotel so I know what I am talking about. Bathroom and WC facilities were excellent also. The staff were friendly and helpful and were available 24 hours. They had a lovely comfortable living room and the bar was accessible 24 hours also. Breakfast was available for a small fee but you had to go next door. They have an arrangement with this restaurant but everything was great also. There were a lot of choices with fresh bread and hot meals included. The lady in charge was also lovely. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Berlin. PS. The security here is also very good so I would also be okay if my daughters wanted to stay here... Thank you for a wonderful stay... Will definitely be back in the near future. Carlos

I always stay here when in Berlin..A very special hostel. Nice common area. Not a party place. Feels like a home and the beds are comfortable. Everything clean and according to the photos. Also from here you can get to all.the attractions without a problem..All sorts of transportation nearby. Especially friendly staff ! With the prices that have risen in Berlin like crazy the Breakfast buffer is a good deal.and has a good variety.

The Grand hostel was named appropriately. It is a beautiful and well maintained heritage building built in the late 1800s. I found it very clean with large high ceiling rooms. The staff were very helpful and friendly. It was very quiet sleeping. Its about a 30 minute walk from all the historic sights of Berlin. Although there is a market right across the street, I found the all you can eat breakfast was exceptionally great for only an extra €10 dollars. I cant say enough wonderful things about this hostel!
